Pamper Yourself !

I felt soooo good today ! You know what ? I just came from a nail salon and got a manicure and pedicure. Isn't that great ? I think all of us mommies needs this from time to time, pampering ourselves with the things we love. I used to have my nails done almost every week when I was single, then once a month or so when I got Gabz, then suddenly I stop. But then, I wanted to feel good about myself, so I headed to the nail salon with my BFF Maricel to have our nails done.

Sometimes, when you are pregnant you feel so unglamorous and tend to forget yourself (especially if you are a stay at home Mom). But Mommies, lets try to treat ourselves sometimes, we truly ever deserved it !

How I wish I could have my hair done as well, but I guess not advisable while pregnant, maybe after. Ah, feels so good.

Why should we drink a lot of water during Pregnancy ?

Either I am pregnant or not, I am not a water person. What I mean is that I don't drink a lot of water that much. But while pregnant I have to push myself to drink water for the benefit of my baby and me. I have read some article and thought of sharing this knowledge with you.

Why do we need to drink extra water while pregnant ?

1. Water helps reduce the likelihood of headaches and dry skin.

2. Drinking enough water you can avoid urinary tract infections and constipation.

3. If you do not drink enough water you may experience early labor.

4. Water helps reduce the additional body heat generated by your increased metabolism.

5. Drink water before dinnertime to reduce the number of times you use the bathroom during night time.

Hope this simple tips helps !

Leg Cramps during Pregnancy

Leg cramps during pregnancy is one of the most annoying thing for me. During my first pregnancy, It started on my third trimester, but on this second one, it started from the beginning of my pregnancy. It hurts a lot at the same time it disturbs your sleep, because when I moved or suddenly stretch my legs in the middle of the night, it just came.

I tried to eat Banana, because they said that Potassium helps, I don't know if it helps but I am getting a few of them now.

Here are the things I do to avoid leg cramps:

1. If I get a cramp, I straighten my legs, point my toes toward my knees and my heels away from my body. It's like pulling your toes and heels in different direction, this really helps a lot !

2. Stretch your calf muscles to help with leg cramps.

3. Take a warm bath before going to bed.

4. Put your feet up every time you get a chance.

5. They say that Banana helps, but no idea how true it is. I ate Banana anyway as it gives a lot of nutrients.

Hope this simple tips helps !

Exercise during pregnancy

Everybody said that you have to exercise even while you are pregnant, because it keeps you healthy and strong and gives you more stamina during labor. But I guess it is still depends on what kind of pregnancy you are having. Some have normal and others have high risk.

I used to do Yoga even before I get pregnant and continued to do so during my first trimester. After having an on and off spotting, I stop because I was worried that I might hurt my baby. When my doctor check that my placenta was low, she asked me to take it slow. But I totally stop doing it, because I wanted to listen to what my body is saying. Of all people you should know what is best for you and the baby and you should know when to stop doing something if you think that it is not doing you and the baby any good.

But now that I am entering my third trimester and the stopping had stopped, I wanted to do some simple exercise. I do believed that doing simple exercise would make me strong and would help me with the pains I feel everyday.

Here are some simple exercise we could do based on what I have read:

1. Swimming
2. Walking
3. Low impact aerobics
4. Prenatal Yoga
5. Weight Training

Please make sure to check with your doctor what is best for you. I love walking in the afternoon and during the weekends, with my daughter and husband. This gives us time to bond at the same time.

Spotting during pregnancy

Spotting during pregnancy is somewhat scary. You do not know what is going on inside your body, and does not know when to go to the doctor and when not. You don't want to be paranoid or something...but if you are a first time Mom, this would make you worried.

During my first pregnancy, I had brown spotting during my first trimester. In this second pregnancy, I have on and off spotting from my first up to the second trimester. Not only brown spotting but red blood spotting. Good thing though that I don't have any cramping at all. My OB was monitoring it and always asked me to call if I feel any pain or cramping. We did an ultrasound and found out that my placenta was very low and that might have cause the spotting. She asked me not to stress myself and avoid heavy lifting and long walking.

Here are some reasons of spotting during pregnancy according to the doctor:

1. Implantation bleeding
2. Miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy
3. Infection (Yeast or Urinary Tract Infection)
4. Placental Problem
5. Premature Labor

So, if you have some spotting and not so sure what to do and what is happening, you better call your doctor.
